Detroit hip-hop MC/Producer BLACK MILK returns to Melbourne for an up close and personal show at Wax Music Lounge this Friday. His first time back in Melbourne since 2018. Black Milk has been creating music professionally since he was a teen, co-producing for Detroit’s beloved Slum Village as well as crafting his own works as a producer and rapper; 15+ years later, he’s still going strong. Each step of the way, Black has pushed sonic boundaries — starting his career with a classic soul-sampled sound and evolving it into an opus of live instrumentation, chopped and re-worked into an original amalgamation of funk, soul, jazz, psych rock, gospel, electronic and hip-hop. One thing about Black is for sure — you never know what to expect from his next musical offering. Black’s new album, “Everybody Good?”, is true to his legacy of pushing boundaries and creating a truly unique work of art.
