Impromptunes – Edinburgh Fringe Fundraiser Double Bill

It’s a wild idea: the MC gets a title from the audience, and seconds later the cast performs that musical for the first, last, and only time. All the music, dialogue, songs, and dance routines are made up on the spot!

After captivating Fringe-goers with their unique blend of spontaneity, humour, and musical prowess back in 2016, Impromptunes is hitting the international stage once again in 2024, presenting not one, but two improvised shows as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August this year. It’s an incredible opportunity for the team to present their world-class work alongside some of the greatest in the biz.

We’d love to share a little teaser of our new work Naughty Broadway in our home of Melbourne before we go, and to invite our loyal fans to support the team with the fundraising effort. Although cast members will make their own way overseas, Impromptunes covers the costs of accommodation for the month (a quick google will reveal prices that will terrify children) not to mention venue hire, gear hire and registration fees – before we even start to market the show!

We invite you and all your loved ones to fill the amazing space at our home, The Alex Theatre St Kilda, for a fun and frivolous night of fun-raising (we’re the first people to ever coin that phrase, don’t google it) in a unique 2-act improv experience full of unadulterated musical mayhem.

Debuting in 2013, Impromptunes is Australia’s leading improvised musical comedy troupe, combining the mischief of improvisation with the magic of musical theatre. They have been performing for 10 years in Australian fringe and comedy festivals. The troupe is made up of professional musical theatre performers and musicians, as well as Melbourne’s top improvisers from the likes of The Big Hoo Haa! and Improv Conspiracy.

Whatever you can think of, our talented cast will bring it to life right in front of your eyes in a theatrical production full of hijinks, harmony and hilarity. Improvised musical comedy fans old and new should mark this one in their diaries and get along to support Impromptunes in their trek across the globe!
