The Barn Owl On Drake, Malmsbury

Just an hour out of Melbourne, you’ll find one of Victoria’s most verdant refuges. A hideaway within the Macedon Ranges where valleys dive deep, flora reaches the sky and wildlife is bountiful, The Barn Owl On Drake is an eccentric spot for wanderlusters looking to hit the hay amongst the hay. The barn is fully self-contained with a queen bed, bathroom and open plan kitchen. There’s even a beehive!

Poplar Lodge, Silvan

Close to the Dandenong Ranges, Olinda and the Yarra Valley lies Poplar Lodge. The unpretentious cabin boasts a big personality and endless serenity. It’s super romantic with timber walls, charming adornments, a bunch of furry farm friends, Alison in Wonderland-like hedges snaking through the residence, and a rocking horse for some added rustic charm. Did we mention there’s also a lake and a jetty? Suffice to say this one ticks all the boxes.

Anarres Organic Eco Village, Blampied

Get away from the stampede in Blampied. Stay at the Anarres Organic Eco Village, nestle in amongst the fruit and nut orchard and take a stroll through the lush grass where the sheep run free. It’s all organic – the produce, power and there’s even an opportunity to get a bit top heavy at the farm’s cellar door and restaurant. There are three gorgeous cabins to choose from, each with stretching views of the property.

Stringer’s Cottage, Walhalla

As frightening as it sounds, Walhalla is not a residence for the dead. Rather, it’s ensconced in history and rich with gold. Once one of Victoria’s wealthiest towns, it was once home to over 4,000 treasure seekers. Overlooking a cliff, Stringer’s Cottage is a magical retreat perfect for those who like to go for a walk but don’t know where they’re going. Take a step here and you’ll find a little courtyard, wander there and stumble across a hidden track.

Nelsey’s, Healesville

Nelsey’s is an adorable cabin retreat; crawling vines embellish the exterior, alongside pebble paths, rusted wall art, and an outdoor fireplace. Mosey off the beaten path through Healesville’s perpetual forest stretches if you want the full experience.
