Known for their fuzzy and beachy yet introspective pop songs, 'Unlovable' is the newest Beach Weather endeavour.

The beloved three piece alternative rock band Beach Weather have made their return from a small hiatus with their latest single ‘Unlovable’. While the single is characterised by its breezy and summery guitar sound, the introspective vocals explore themes of loneliness, anxiety and emotional tumult. With vocalist Nick Santino, ex-A Rocket To The Moon, pondering “how’d I get so damn unlovable? / Yeah, it’s all my fault / Can’t believe it’s so unnatural,” in the song’s infectiously catchy hook, Beach Weather effortlessly merge nostalgic melodies with sunny and vibe-heavy guitar riffs.

Beach Weather have recently signed to Arista Records ahead of the release of ‘Unlovable’, which dropped on August 12 of this year. They’ve also just announced that their newest album Pineapple Sunrise – which ‘Unlovable’ will feature on – is set to be released this springtime.

The story of Beach Weather – comprised of Nick Santino (vocals, guitar), Reeve Powers (bass) and Sean Silverman (guitar, production) – is a rather unique one. They formed in 2015 with their debut EP What A Drag being released that year, after which they hit the road and received acclaim for their energetic live performances. Beach Weather released three EPs over the following years – Chit Chat (2016), What A Drag (2016) and Basement Sessions (2017).

The members of Beach Weather took some time away from the band in 2017 while they were busy with life and other projects – Nick pursued a career in graphic design and became a father, Sean dedicated his career to production and Reeve survived a tornado and toured and wrote for Nashville artists. However, they remained in contact although living in different states and began releasing music again in 2020.

Meanwhile, their 2016 single ‘Sex, Drugs, Etc.’ was generating a buzzing underground audience of new fans. With the single being featured on the Spanish-language Netflix teen drama Control Z in 2020, the band boomeranged back into the spotlight. With a whopping 4.7 million Spotify monthly listeners, their single ‘Sex, Drugs, Etc.’ has earned massive popularity by becoming the sound to a TikTok trend this year, having amassed over 400 thousand video creations on the app.

Since then the group have dominated the US Alternative radio world. They’ve also reached a huge audience over digital streaming services, having garnered over 80 million streams on Spotify, ‘Sex, Drugs, Etc.’ charted #33 on Spotify’s Global Viral chart and has appeared on 64 Viral Charts, including in the US, UK, Canada, Sweden and Germany.

Now that they’re back with new material, Beach Weather are set to be the soundtrack for … well – the beach weather of another ripper Australian summer.
