Bass Slappin’ Funky Bunny Calls for Action in Wake of CBD Busking Ban

funkyb.jpg

You may recognise the infamous bass slappin’ rabbit from his late night Swanston Street perfromances, laying down a bed of loops and going hell for leather over the top of them until the early hours of the morning, much to the enjoyment of sloshed punters the city over.

The temporary ban will take place on Swanston Street, with the amplification-free zone extending from Flinders Lane to La Trobe Street. This means the Funky Bunny, and numerous other buskers like him, will be forced to head elsewhere.

The Funky Bunny believes the situation could snowball into something more permanent and widespread, urging music-lovers to sign a petition and stand up against the busking ban.

Melbourne has the reputation for being one of the best cities in the world for street performers, adding to the vibrancy of its rich culture,” he said.  “I speak frequently with people on the streets, and the vast majority believe we are doing a good thing. Very few people have treated us as if we are some kind of nuisance. I urge you to sign this petition. We need your support. This is not just for us buskers, this is for the future of Melbourne’s street life.”
