Arts Centre Melbourne to stream 2018’s ‘RocKwiz’s Really Really Good Friday’ in lieu of cancelled event

Yes, please!

When Arts Centre Melbourne announced its closure, the city was dismayed. It was the decision that had to be made as a result of coronavirus, nevertheless, it was a difficult reality for the city’s artistic curious.

Arts Centre made the announcement with the ambition to maintain activity, in a virtual sense. Today, the venue has heeded to their commitment with the announcement they’ll be streaming 2018’s RocKwiz’s Really Really Good Friday in lieu of tomorrow’s cancelled event.

It comes as part of their ‘Together With You’ initiative, whereby they’ve been hosting free archival recordings and digital experiences via their website. In this broadcast, Julia Zemiro and Brian Nankervis were joined by the likes of Joe Camilleri, Vika and Linda Bull, The Jezabels’ Hayley Mary, Alex The Astronaut and Paul Dempsey. Comedians Bob Franklin and Gillian Cosgriff were also along for the ride.

The nearly three-hour-long performance saw Jane Gazzo interview RocKwiz Executive Producer Ken Connor about the show’s legacy and how it has maintained popularity with both audiences and performers across the years. That was just the start.

Check out the stream below, set to go live at 7pm on Friday April 10:
