The world premiere exhibition is open until 14 April 2024.

Prepare to be transported into a world where technology dances with nature as London-based experimental art collective, Marshmallow Laser Feast (MLF), makes its Australian debut at ACMI with the groundbreaking exhibition, Works of Nature.

Arriving back in November and hanging around until April 14, 2024, this immersive experience invites Melburnians and beyond to explore the delicate yet intricate threads that connect humans to the natural world through the lens of large-scale moving images and creative projection technologies.

Featuring five artworks by London-based experiential art collective Marshmallow Laser Feast (MLF), this transcendent, immersive experience traces the hidden connections beyond our everyday perceptions – from a towering Amazonian tree to the human breath and galaxies above.

Comprised of major video works on a grand, awe-inspiring scale, guided meditation and evocative works on paper, visitors evolve from droplets of water to ancient trees, human cells and black holes, gaining a deeper understanding of the natural world and our place within it.

Marshmallow Laser Feast Partner and Director Ersin Han Ersin said of the exhibition, “Art has the unique power to transform the issues of our complex world into up-close, human experiences. Works of Nature draw on our interconnected relationship with nature and represent the passion we feel for its beauty and power. Our artworks are both playful investigations and scientific studies, which we hope will bring renewed wonder in our extraordinary planet, to a multitude of audiences.”

To complement the exhibition, ACMI is offering a range of programs over summer, including film screenings, play-based kids workshops, and an industry masterclass. Visitors can delve deeper into the world of nature through visually striking and immersive documentaries that provide unique perspectives on our planet. Artificial Eye, a collection of short and feature-length films, showcases contemporary cinematography techniques, from satellite filming to drone cameras.

Young explorers aged three to five can participate in ACMI Preschoolers, a weekly interactive exhibition session, while schools can engage with environmental film screenings and educational resources, fostering a deeper connection between science, art, and new technologies.
