On the back of their latest album, Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino propelling the band into a new era, British rockers Arctic Monkeys have announced they’ll be heading to Australia and New Zealand across February and March next year for a huge run of arena shows.
The band will kick off the tour in the oft-neglected Perth before embarking on the usual east coast jaunt, stopping at Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane along the way. While Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino was met with mixed reactions from fans and critics due to the band’s foray from their usual sound, the lounge-pop, piano-heavy album displays a sense of creative exploration not to be sniffed at.
News of the tour follows the band’s recent announcement of a new two-track digital bundle, featuring the previously unreleased b-side ‘Anyways’, set for release on Friday November 30 – so you’ll have plenty of time to get acquainted with the new tracks before they hit the stage. The band have also treated fans to the short film Warp Speed Chic, originally featured as part of the band’s AM:ZM exhibition in conjunction with photography works by Zackery Michael.
With Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino seeing the band evolve creatively, it’s a safe bet you can expect the same from their live set. They’ll be joined by Mini Mansions on support, featuring members of Queens of the Stone Age and The Last Shadow Puppets. This tour will definitely be a sell-out, so don’t wait to grab your tickets.
