Invoking the strains of wistful nostalgia and technological dystopia present on previous album Neon Bible, Arcade Fire build a deep groove replete with smoky horns and a big Boney M-style chorus. Producer James Murphy lives out his Eno fantasies with a cameo from ol’ mate Bowie himself, crafting a bongo-led dance jam in the process. It’s not too far a stylistic leap, but it’s a welcome divergence from the band’s established work. A promising first taste of the upcoming third LP.
