What is it with 2024?
Adelaide’s beloved Harvest Rock festival has just announced it will not be going ahead this year. Set to host its third edition this spring, the festival has taken to social media to let fans know the bad news.
“We’ve been working hard to make Harvest Rock III another incredible event, however we have made the difficult decision to not hold the festival in 2024,” wrote the festival team in an Instagram post. “We appreciate the ongoing support of the South Australian Government and we look forward to Harvest Rock in the future.”

They also said that those who have already bought tickets will be automatically refunded within 14 days.
The team hasn’t cited any specific reasons for the festival’s time off, but rumours had been going around that the event was in a difficult position as the lineup had not yet been announced.
Last week, Premier Premier Malinauskas told ABC Radio Adelaide that the government was seeking clarity from the festival and that while they were committed to supporting the event, they had their doubts.
“It’s precarious this year, so what we’ve seen around the country is music festivals effectively hit the fence,” he said. “What we’ve been communicated to us by Live Nation, who are the, you know, the curator and the producer of Harvest Rock is that they are really struggling.”
Harvest Rock, which last year brought huge headliners including Jamiroquai, Beck, Nile Rodgers and Santigold, made its home in Adelaide in 2022. The debut edition saw 15,000 punters take to Murlawirrapurka & Ityamai-Itpina / Rymill & King Rodney Parks.
The festival is one of many that have decided to take 2024 off, raising concerns in Australia’s music scene and disappointing fans across the country. Groovin’ The Moo, Splendour in the Grass and Spilt Milk have also announced they will not be running this year.
