Released in 2014, The Joy of Motion redefined progressive metal with its masterful fusion of genres. The album debuted at number 23 on the US Billboard 200 and has since sold over 50,000 copies in the US alone, with standout tracks like Kascade and The Woven Web each accumulating more than 10 million streams.
The band’s signature track Physical Education is approaching 22 million streams, an impressive achievement for an instrumental act that defies traditional genre boundaries.
Animals As Leaders have evolved from prog metal pioneers to a global phenomenon, blending metal, jazz fusion and electronic elements into a distinctive sound. The band utilises eight-string guitars, synthesisers and complex polyrhythmic grooves to create instrumental music that connects with metalheads, jazz enthusiasts and casual listeners alike.
New York’s experimental metal outfit Car Bomb will join Animals As Leaders for all Australian shows. Known for their aggressive approach to metal, Car Bomb brings a chaotic mix of polyrhythms, shifting tempos and harmonically deconstructive riffs to create a sound that’s both brutally heavy and intensely disorienting. Their unpredictable live performances complement Animals As Leaders’ virtuosic style, having previously toured with acts including Meshuggah, Gojira and The Dillinger Escape Plan.
The five-date tour kicks off at Adelaide’s Hindley Music Hall on Friday, September 12, before heading to The Tivoli in Brisbane on Sunday, September 14. The band will then perform at The Forum in Melbourne on Thursday, September 18, followed by Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Friday, September 19, with the final show at Perth’s Magnet House on Sunday, September 21.
Presale tickets will be available from Tuesday, April 15 at 9am local time, with general tickets on sale from Thursday, April 17 at 9am local time.
