The year marches forward and tumbles into April with a cloud of crushed leaves and a big list of things to do. This Friday March 31 to Sunday April 9 is National Youth Week. There’s some seriously cool stuff on just for you. On Thursday April 6the Governor of Victoria is throwing an official house party at Government House Melbourne with Alex Lahey, Mallrat and a DJ set from Japanese Wallpaper. It’s gonna be wild. On Saturday April 1at Newport Community Club celebrate the launch of UP with dream pop prince Jarrow and The Bill Burns Band, UFO GO, Moses Carr and more. Speaking of National Youth Week, City of Stonnington have announced VIVA Youth Festival all in the name of celebrating youth culture and the important contribution young people make to our community. The Festival is packed with activities and entertainment such as skateboarding and basketball competitions, a dedicated dance stage, music, street art, workshops and activities, food stalls, prizes and even a mechanical bull. Head to Princes Gardens in Prahran on Saturday April 8 to celebrate how great the youth are.

Music Victoria is hosting their Membership Drive and you should jump on board. Music Victoria is a not-for-profit support network for everybody involved in music, offering things like professional development opportunities and discounts to its members. In the past year they have helped councils commit support for local music committees, launched the Live Music Professionals coaching program, sold out the Age Music Victoria Awards and heaps more. If you join before the end of the membership drive you get a chance to win some cool prizes. Also looking for new members this week is Cluster Magazine. Until Tuesday April 4,Cluster Magazine is accepting all submissions for their fifth edition coming out later in the year. Cluster Magazine is an independently run publication that accepts and publishes absolutely anything that will fit on two A4 pages from absolutely anybody who can fill two A4 pages. That’s it, there are no guidelines or restrictions – Cluster accepts everything. If you’ve ever wanted to have a piece of your work immortalised in slick premium paper, then all you need to do is send two A4-sized submissions in PDF form to [email protected].
