Alex Lahey to play one night only at The Curtin

Alex Lahey

Aussie pop-punk star Alex Lahey will play a rather emotional final gig at The Curtin Hotel next month before the celebrated Melbourne venue's closure.

On the eve of heading overseas for tours in the UK and US, Alex Lahey and band will play One Night Only at The Curtin before it closes at the end of the year. Lahey is a celebrated talent with a sardonic streak and a flair for crafting relatable pop-punk anti-anthems.

She first broke through in 2016 with her hit song ‘You Don’t Think You Like People Like Me’. Since then she’s clocked up over 50 million streams on DSPs worldwide.

What you need to know

  • Alex Lahey is playing The Curtin Hotel on Wednesday July 13
  • It’s a one-off intimate gig before she embarks on a global tour
  • It’s set to be the last time she plays the closing venue

She’s also dropped two Top 30 ARIA Albums, been nominated for ARIA and Air Awards, placed four tracks in the Hottest 100, appeared on late night TV shows in the US, (including The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in June for her collaboration with Gordi on ‘Dino’s’) and even popped up on a billboard in Times Square.

Her global appeal has even seen her music appear on cult games including Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. After hearing about the imminent closure of The Curtin, Alex wanted to play a farewell show: “Every Melbourne musician and music fan loves this spot and we feel so lucky to take the stage one last time before she closes her doors at the end of the year. See you at the bar x”
