The album’s opener Kiss My Soul is perhaps the best track on offer here, with Kid A’s plaintive Bjork-esque vocals striking strong emotional chords while a rather delicate arrangement featuring piano and violin come together to create a widescreen soundtrack ambiance. This gives way to the muted minimal beats of Souless Dreamers which finds rising star Seth Troxler intoning a spoken word piece like a hypnotist trying to put us under. Instrumental moments such as Panta Rei and Grand Torino, despite the bouncing beats, are muted by layers of atmospheric strings to give them a dreamy but mysterious texture. Speechless finds Agoria throwing down a sex house groove that is assisted by Carl Craig talking it up all sensuous and nasty in a way that is bound to leave you speechless. Serious and at times heavy, Impermanence showcases Agoria at his accomplished best.
