A new event is taking over the Immigration Museum, telling the story of both great British musicians and the story of migration that comes with them.
Across two Friday night sessions, the Immigration Museum courtyard will light up with a vinyl fair alongside live sets. The first instalment features ’60s-inspired powerhouse Marshmallow Undercoat (who’ll be playing hits from The Beatles, The Kings, Queen and more) before Melbourne quartet Flyying Colours round it out in the second session with their hazy psych rock.
In conjunction with the Melbourne Record Club, the vinyl fair will act as a haven for the record-obsessed. There’ll be rarities to snatch up, as well as vinyl DJs and huge collection of music to go crate digging through.
Best of all, every ticket to the event includes entry to the museum’s acclaimed summer show, Britsh Migrants: Instant Australians. The exhibition explores the personal stories, history and legacy of British migrants on Australian culture. And for those who are ready to take their passion for British music to the next level, there’ll also be a Brit Bedroom Karaoke session set up inside a ’60s replica teen bedroom.
