With maps inspired by IRL cities.
Nintendo is continuing the trend of bringing classic games to your smartphone. Finally, it’s Mario Kart’s turn for a reboot — and it’s about damn time, to be honest.
The app, Mario Kart Tour, will be available for iOS and Android phones from Wednesday September 25. Racecourses will be inspired by real-life cities and will change every fortnight, but that doesn’t mean classic courses like Rainbow Road and Bowser’s Castle won’t be making an appearance.

As IGN reports, characters featured in the latest incarnation of the game include Mario (duh), Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Yoshi and Donkey Kong, but also lesser-known characters such as Metal Mario, King Boo and Koopa Troopa.
In order to play, racers must have a free Nintendo account. In-app purchases will also be available.
