Directed by Dylan Pearce, the film uses innovative 3D Motion Sculpting technology. Through advanced digital scanning and mapping, Pearce’s team recreated individual brushstrokes to add depth and motion to the artworks.
“At the time, the Impressionist movement was innovation in art—defined by new practices, techniques and technologies,” Pearce explains. “Van Gogh, Monet & Degas 3D: Lasting Impressions embraces these principles, offering audiences original perspectives of these works.”
The result is a visually striking experience where paintings move and leap off the screen in vivid 3D, allowing viewers to inhabit the worlds crafted by these artists. The film is set to a complementary score featuring Debussy, Ravel, and others, culminating in Don McLean’s emotional tribute, Vincent.
Van Gogh, Monet & Degas 3D: Lasting Impressions is screening exclusively at IMAX Melbourne, opening November 28.
