Brisbane doom crew SLOWCUT are hauling their crushing sound down to Brunswick's Bergy Bandroom.
Brisbane’s underground doesn’t get much heavier than this, and Bergy Bandroom is about to find out why. SLOWCUT are bringing their brand of atmospheric sludge and doom south, landing at the Brunswick venue on 4 September for a night that promises to be as crushing as it is strangely meditative.
The Queensland trio have built a reputation on contrast – towering riffs and suffocating heaviness sitting alongside long stretches of haunting ambience.
It’s a formula that pulls listeners in two directions at once, somewhere between total sonic collapse and hypnotic calm, and it’s carved SLOWCUT a lane of their own within the country’s heavy music scene.

Rather than chasing genre convention, the band lean into restraint just as hard as they lean into weight.
Every riff earns its place, every quiet passage is doing something, and when the heaviness finally does arrive, it lands harder for the build-up.
Live, that dynamic reportedly turns into something closer to an experience than a gig – walls of distortion, tension that builds across a set, and a payoff that’s been described as equal parts devastating and cathartic.
SLOWCUT won’t be doing all the heavy lifting on the night either.
Local support comes from Tumour and Burial Pit, rounding out a bill that’s shaping up to be a proper doom triple threat rather than just a headline set with filler either side.
