The Encore Run: Powderfinger add two more Melbourne nights, Hobart and Canberra

Words by staff writer

Missed out the first time? Powderfinger have added The Encore Run, nine shows including two more Melbourne Park Oval nights.

The Encore Run puts the big top back up at Melbourne Park Oval on 5 and 6 November 2027, with Something For Kate and The Belair Lip Bombs opening both nights. Powderfinger are also heading to two cities left off the original 26-date schedule, playing a pair of shows at Cornelian Bay Oval in Hobart and one at Stage 88 in Canberra. Perth gets two extra nights at Sandalford Estate, while Brisbane wraps up the whole tour with two outdoor, festival-style shows at the Brisbane Showgrounds.

Demand forced the extra run. The first batch of shows moved more than 300,000 tickets in six days, as Beat reported when the last allocation went on 19 October. Tasmanians and Canberrans who already bought for an interstate date can claim a refund on that ticket if they land one for their hometown show, and instructions will arrive once the new dates are on sale. Adelaide gets nothing this round, though the band has told South Australian fans to sit tight.

Stay up to date with what’s happening in and around Melbourne here.

Every act on the bill is Australian. Something For Kate get the most work, playing both Melbourne nights plus Canberra, while Violent Soho, Thelma Plum, Full Flower Moon Band, Ocean Alley and Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers each turn up twice. The 11 December closer is an all-Brisbane lineup, ending the tour in the city where Powderfinger formed in 1989. Carla Geneve, South Summit, Banjo Lucia and Special Features fill the emerging slots, and supports for the 26 sold-out shows are still being locked in.

Fans need to sign up at powderfinger.com for pre-sale access, which opens 4 November at 10am local time. General tickets follow on 5 November from 11am local, with both sales running until the allocation’s gone. Mission Australia stays on as the tour’s charity partner, and the band will raise money and awareness for its homelessness work across the dates. Details on how punters can chip in are still to come.

Nothing else is coming for 2027 after this, with the band confirming The Encore Run as its final set of locations for the year.
