The full Australian cast of Elf The Musical has been revealed ahead of the show's Melbourne premiere at Crown Live.
Melbourne’s getting a dose of North Pole energy this festive season, with Elf The Musical locking in its full Australian cast for the show’s Melbourne premiere at Crown Live from 27 November.
The big casting news is Colin Lane taking on the dual roles of Santa and Mr Greenway. Lane, best known as one half of comedy duo Lano and Woodley, brings a stacked theatre resume to the production, with credits across Peter and the Starcatcher, Don’s Party and Curtains, plus TV appearances in Fisk, Utopia and Kath and Kim.

Gareth Isaac will reprise the lead role of Buddy after performing in Elf The Musical’s Australian premiere season at Sydney Opera House. He’s joined by Brianna Bishop as Jovie, Adam Murphy as Walter Hobbs, Katrina Retallick as Emily, Ryan Yeates as Michael, Hollie James as Deb, Elandrah Tavares as the Store Manager, and Joel Granger as Buddy Alternate/Ensemble. Rounding out the ensemble are Jack Coyne, Marina Grace Lee, Lachlan Inwood, Joseph Naim, Max Patterson, Jayden Prelc, Annabelle Rosewarne, Rose Shannon-Duhigg and Nicole Vella.
Elf The Musical is based on the 2003 film and follows Buddy, a human who was raised as an elf at the North Pole after accidentally crawling into Santa’s toy sack as a baby. When he discovers he’s not actually an elf, Buddy heads to New York City to track down his birth father, navigating a dad on the naughty list and a sceptical half-brother along the way.
The production features songs by Tony Award nominees Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin, with a book by Tony Award winners Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin. It’s directed by Eric Giancola, with choreography by Mitchell Woodcock and music direction by Vicky Jacobs.
