Grand Piano Open Mic is back in the front bar with Piano Atmosferix on hosting duties.
Grand Piano Open Mic is back at Wesley Anne with Piano Atmosferix, and the beautiful grand is yours to play.
Roll up any time after 7pm, add your name to the list and take a turn at the keys, or grab a drink and settle in while other players do the work. The night is open to anyone, from seasoned pianists to first-timers who fancy a crack at a proper grand, so there’s no audition and no pressure to bring a polished set.

Piano Atmosferix keeps the evening ticking along between performers, and the running order is dictated purely by who’s written their name down and when. Grand Piano Open Mic runs on that easy, turn-up-and-see-what-happens energy, with the instrument at the centre of the room doing plenty of the talking. Expect a rotating cast of Melbourne locals, a few surprises and a room happy to listen to whoever steps up next.
The front bar has long been one of Northcote’s warmer rooms for live music, and this open mic slots neatly into that programming. There’s no cover charge to think about, so you can wander in off High Street, order something from the bar and let the evening find its own shape.
It suits players and spectators equally. Bring a piece you’ve been sitting on, use the room to test out something new, or simply post up with a drink and enjoy a run of local talent taking their turns at the keys. Either way, the grand does the heavy lifting.
