Three years of candlelight, hot jaffles, deep cuts and Melbourne dance floors.
What started as a humble weekly gathering has grown into one of Melbourne’s most beloved music rituals.
This Sunday, Jazz & Jaffles celebrates its third anniversary, bringing together the artists, DJs and community that have transformed the event from a quirky idea into a staple of Melbourne’s jazz and creative underground.
Known affectionately by regulars as a kind of “Thursday Church”, Jazz & Jaffles has built a devoted following by offering something increasingly rare in modern nightlife: a space to slow down, connect and discover music together.

Part jazz club, part supper club, part dance floor, the night begins with candlelit tables, hot jaffles and cocktails inspired by childhood nostalgia.
As the evening unfolds, deep jazz cuts, soul records and unexpected selections fill the room before the tables are inevitably pushed aside and the dance floor emerges.
It’s a date night with a twist.
Not just for lovers, but for friends, music obsessives and culture seekers alike.
At the heart of the experience is a commitment to discovery. DJs operate on what founder Josh Olave jokingly calls “prison rules”; reading the room, taking risks and keeping the crowd on their toes.
One moment it’s spiritual jazz, the next a forgotten soul ballad, Brazilian groove or left-field dance record. The journey changes every week.
The menu has become equally iconic, pairing nostalgic comfort food with Melbourne’s world-class music scene. Hot toasted jaffles, Milo Espresso Martinis and boozy Milo shakes have become synonymous with the event’s unique blend of sophistication and playfulness.
Over the past three years, Jazz & Jaffles has hosted an impressive roster of artists including Barney McAll, Rita Satch, Lani Zimmer, Horatio Luna, Ausecuma Beats, No News, Manfredo Lament, ON-LY, Big Cat and Brett Williams, while regularly welcoming projects featuring members of internationally acclaimed Melbourne outfit Hiatus Kaiyote.
The anniversary celebration continues that tradition with a lineup featuring:
LIVE
- Uncomfortable Science (featuring members of Hiatus Kaiyote and No News)
- Girls Night In
- John Henderson
- Special Secret Closing Performance
SELECTORS
- Moor Street DJs
- Josh Olave

More than a music event, Jazz & Jaffles has become a meeting place for Melbourne’s creative community; a place where first dates, old friends, musicians, artists and curious newcomers can share a table before ending up on the same dance floor.
Three years on, the formula remains simple: great music, hot jaffles and good company.
For many, it’s still the best way to spend a Sunday night in Melbourne.
