Melbourne art studio Signal is back with a new three day program for young artists and creatives.
Located in Northbank (just behind Flinders Street Station), this old train signal box has become an arts studio dedicated to people aged between 13 and 20, covering a whole range of art forms.
Inside the old building, the studio is now fitted with multi-purpose workshop, gallery and performance spaces, an outdoor plaza, projective windows and an 18-speaker sound wall.
This month they will commence a three day program featuring six sessions which explore the idea of Melbourne’s city as an “Urban Forest”. To assist with the program Signal have called in a four artistic professional: installation artist Martine Corompt, VJ Eugenia Liml, architect Stanislav Roudavski and internet specialist Craig Lambie.
Young creatives have the chance to work together with these professionals in a large selection of artforms including film, animation, dance, music, painting and interactive installation. Best of all … it’s free.
After the weekend’s program, all artists involved will have their work included at the final Urban Mesh Manifestation exhibition from September 21 to October 9, which coinicdes with the Fringe Festival.
If you are between 13 and 20, and want to explore your creative side you can head down to the Signal homebase between April 1 and 3. For more information you can visit Signal’s website.
