Local venues and festivals across regional Victoria secure vital government support to strengthen live music offerings.
The Victorian government announces major backing for regional music venues and festivals through the latest funding round. Furthermore, venues across regional Victoria will receive $11,000 grants to stage paid performances by local artists. Additionally, a number of regional music festivals have also been boosted by up to $50,000 in funding.
Regional venues play a crucial role in Victoria’s music ecosystem. Moreover, they provide essential platforms for local artists while strengthening community connections. Consequently, this funding ensures these venues can continue nurturing emerging talent across regional Victoria.

Similarly, unconventional locations including Echuca Aquatic Reserve and Wildlife Coast Cruises have been boosted.
Coastal venues feature prominently in this funding round. Hence, Bellarine Estate and Bells Beach Brewing will enhance their music offerings for local communities. Meanwhile, The Blues Train in Queenscliff continues its unique mobile venue concept with government backing.
Regional Victoria’s music scene extends beyond traditional pub venues. Consequently, spaces like Piano Bar Geelong and Shedshaker Taproom in Castlemaine offer diverse programming opportunities.
The $11,000 grants form part of the 10,000 Gigs: The Victorian Gig Fund initiative. Subsequently, this programme supports 136 venues statewide through paid performance opportunities.
The grants represent part of a $35.4 million package announced in the Victorian Budget 2023/24. Consequently, regional Victoria receives significant investment in its cultural infrastructure. Furthermore, this funding demonstrates the government’s recognition of regional music’s importance to the state’s cultural identity.
