Rock The Bay festival, an annual Melbourne event which has been running since 2009, recently had their signature design and name blantantly plagiarised by a US promoter who ran an event at the Old Concrete Street Amphitheater in Corpus Christi, Texas.
“I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw their artwork. Feeling angry and flattered is a weird combo,” said Matt Crute, proprietor and manager Saltar Hype Entertainment, the promoters of Rock The Bay.
Crute then contacted US attorney Scott Burroughs and owner of youthoughtwewouldntnotice.com.
“[He] was amused by the blatantness of the plagiarism and posted it on his website. He’s going to send the US festival promoters a letter. I’m not keen on suing anyone, but it’ll be interesting to see what they respond with.”
“On a positive note, they must have really liked my artwork,” he laughed.
