Debuted by Ryan Hemsworth during his Take 5 on triple j last week, Light Shines Through Dust takes Lontalius away from his emotive Casiotone-formed Drizzy covers for a sparse, yet impactful, guitar-into-piano composition. Pop smarts are distilled into simple and effective chord movements. It was a question of whether rising Kiwi Eddie Johnston would break through in a big way with his Lontalius or Race Banyon moniker, now it seems there’s no reason both projects won’t be destined for worldwide acclaim.
