Similar to the last two years, the “no more tickets” and “no vacancy” signs have gone up two weeks before the tribal gathering. Promoters say that the only tickets to be had are through the festival’s new Ticket Exchange. Check out the festival’s website.
The Port Fairy Folk Festival started in December 1977 in the picturesque fishing village as a showcase of Irish traditional music. But it quickly expanded to roots & rhythm, country, folk, celtic, world music, cabaret and comedy.
This year’s bill includes Archie Roach, Beccy Cole, Ash Grunwald, Chris Wilson’s Crown Of Thorns, Danny Spooner David Bridie & The Pills, Deborah Conway & Willy Zygier, Dog Trumpet, the reunited Flying Emus, Mick Thomas’ Roving Commission and Mama Kin, with overseas acts as Glen Hansard, The Greencards, Rory McLeod, Farge, Rory McLeod, The Topp Twins, Love Over Gold and the Alaska String Band.
