Born in Texas and raised in Venzuela, Banhart is known for his eclectic taste in music that spurs his extravagant folk tunes and stream-of-consciousness lyrics. Earlier this year, Banhart released his eighth studio album, Mala, which features the single Für Hildegard von Bingen, a tribute to the 12th century saint of the same name who was a composer and linguist.
