A downtempo blend of shoegaze and Madchester, Voices presents some fairly intriguing tones in its not-quite-realised quest to rise above the lowest common denominator of Australian indie. It’s an evolution from The Holidays’ previous work, but one that falls in line with the middle of the road. If you’re making Jagwar Ma look overly innovative, then you know you’re falling short.
