Currently enjoying a fertile turn in the Berlin summer, Melbourne artisan producer Roland Tings crafts a drop-heavy techno beast of a number in Tomita’s Basement – tipping the hat to Japanese producer Yann Tomita in the process. Various tonal touchstones for a tidy pastiche that feels both volatile and contained, enveloping dense layers before stripping them back, then blowing it all wide open on a whim.
