Tessa & The Typecast : Lemons

Now, Painter is the opening track on a deft EP called Lemons. The CD itself looks like the tart inside of a cut lemon. But there’s no sourness on this recording – Painter is sugary sweet and Straight On ‘Til Morning is bristling with innocent, youthful energy.

Next up is my favourite track, Machines. There are nifty lyrics like “There was a house on a hill where a poor boy played/he was rich in gold but his heart was cold,” and the music itself conveys a sense of urgency as the lyrical narrative continues. I won’t tell you what happens though, as I don’t want to spoil the ending.

Both From Here and closer Those That Crash are solidly built tracks that continue to suggest that Lemons will garner the critical and commercial attention that Tessa & The Typecast undoubtedly deserve.

Best Track: Machines, Painter
