So then, what’s the band name and what do you ‘do’ in the band?
The band be called The Ovals and I play the guitar and see things in carpets that aren’t there.
Bearing the terrible clichéd nature of this question, what do you reckon people will say you sound like?
A Datsun with an astrally converted motor, or, a structurally sound 19th century whaling vessel making good pace over the ocean. The general psychedelic cliché’s I guess.
What do you love about making music with The Ovals?
Were a strange group of musicians with a good mix of talent and vision to burn. I think that if you’re trying to create art you should strive forth with a great deal of human spirit in an attempt to recreate beauty in your own idealistic treaty. We all feel like we can do that together.
What do you hate about the music industry?
That we haven’t been gifted a villa in the South of France with a spate of recording equipment and a huge crate of French claret.
If you could travel back in time and show one of your musical heroes your stuff, who would it be and why?
Rimbaud so he can put his filaments in our moss.
If you could assassinate one person or band from popular music, who would it and why?
We’ve already killed all the people that we’ve needed to. Dimbula is a wonderfully secluded place to commit a felony.
What can a punter expect from your live show?
Our Gonzoesque manager, Thomas W Russell does a wonderful hands on visual show that wraps around our music perfectly and aids to the Minds eye aspect of our sound.
What’ve you got to sell CD-wise?
Two EP’s, Innerspace and the more recent Into the Eyes of Those Who Sleep. The latter recorded with Micheal Badger from The Demon Parade. Both good for the taking.
When’s the gig and with who?
Yah Yahs this Friday September 16 with Black Mustang, The Jackals and Kidney 3.
Anything else to add?
Drink well in the Pines, and swill your wines.
