What inspired you to apply for Melbourne Music Bank?

This is the first time I’ve entered my music into a competition, and when I noticed what was on offer I couldn’t pass it up. I just finished my debut EP and decided it was worth the long shot.

What do you love the most about making music?

Personally it’s the one thing that keeps me balanced, the one thing I’m fully in control of and the only thing I have to answer for. It keeps me honest.

How do you perceive the music industry today?

It’s far-reaching, vibrant and creative. The technology that has developed and opened doors for musicians to independently record and distribute their music online has been incredibly liberating. The fact King Fool was recorded and subsequently picked for this competition is testament to this.

What sort of impact are you hoping your music will make on listeners/other music artists in the world?

I hope my music inspires and strikes the audience on a personal level. I try to make music that has substance, and is also challenging and interesting.

Who is your favourite music artist and why?

I’ve always admired and respected Sly and The Family Stone, they are one of my earliest influences. They had such a strong message and musical presence, I constantly refer back to Sly when I need inspiration, and I always will.
