The Memo Healesville has been named a Regional Partner of the 2026 Melbourne International Film Festival, hosting a run of screenings across two separate weekends. It marks a regional push for a festival usually anchored in the city, dropping a full slate into the Yarra Ranges. The Healesville lineup opens on 14 August and wraps on 23 August, split into blocks from 14 to 16 August and 21 to 23 August.

The festival has been going since 1952, which puts it among the oldest anywhere, keeping company with Cannes and Berlin. It started out as the Olinda Film Festival, organised by the Federation of Victorian Film Societies to screen films that rarely turned up in local cinemas. Planners expected 80 people; 800 made the trip out to the Dandenong Ranges, roughly 10 times the turnout they had banked on.
Opening night belongs to Wicker on 14 August, with the first stretch also stacking up Digby and Camille, Sweet Milk Lake, Tina Arena: Unravel Me and Broken English. The back half of the schedule serves up Mum, I’m Alien Pregnant, Sovereign Shorts, Death of a Shaman, Rose of Nevada and Hen.
The Melbourne International Film Festival is an independent not-for-profit that has run without a break since 1952. Its selection pairs a curated global program with what organisers bill as the biggest showcase of Australian filmmaking around, pitched as an accessible cultural event built on new screen work from home and abroad.
Tickets sit at $18.50 full, $16.50 concession and $12 for youth under 18. A multifilm pass covering three or more films is $48, with each extra ticket on the pass costing $16.
