Melbourne's Corner Hotel turns 30, and the Love Police Corner Takeover is how that milestone gets marked in October.
The Love Police Corner Takeover rolls into the Corner Hotel in Richmond on 25 October, with doors swinging open from 3pm for an afternoon-into-evening spring session in the heart of Tigerland. The line-up promises a run of songs, old friends and good times as one of Swan Street’s most familiar rooms clocks up three decades.
Love Police have been putting on shows along Swan Street since their first foray with Gomez back in 2000, and the promoter’s Corner history runs deep from there. The years since have taken in sets from The Black Keys, My Morning Jacket, Jesse Welles, Warpaint, Lucero, Justin Townes Earle, Shannon and the Clams, Tony Joe White and The Libertines, so there’s plenty of shared history to draw on for the occasion.

Leading the bill is The Bures Band, direct from WA with their new album Ozonia in tow, bringing a fresh set of songs to the takeover. Alongside them sits a mystery band featuring members of Goanna, No Fixed Address and more, and the identity stays under wraps for now, keeping the guessing game alive right up until showtime.
Sugar Fed Leopards round things out by running through the favourites of Love Police Corner bands from across the years, giving the day a nostalgic thread. Meanwhile the Love Police DJs work their way through the hits and misses of the acts who’ve graced the stage.
It all sits under the banner of the Corner Hotel’s 30-year celebration, a nod to a Richmond mainstay that’s hosted touring and local names across every kind of music.
