The concert series offers fans a chance to experience the wonder of Williams’ score performed live, highlighting musical moments that might be overlooked when watching the film at home. From the instantly recognisable Hedwig’s Theme to the chaotic sounds of the Quidditch match, the MSO will breathe new life into every scene.

Film concert experiences have become increasingly popular in recent years, with orchestras worldwide embracing the challenge of performing complex scores in perfect synchronisation with the on-screen action.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was the first instalment in what would become one of the most successful film franchises in history. Released in 2001, it introduced audiences to Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, alongside Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley and Emma Watson as Hermione Granger.

The film follows Harry as he discovers his magical heritage, makes friends (and enemies) at Hogwarts, and confronts the dark wizard responsible for his parents’ deaths.

John Williams’ score for the film received widespread acclaim and helped establish the musical identity for the entire series. The American composer, known for his work on Star Wars, Jaws and E.T., created themes that have become as recognisable as the characters themselves.
