The silent comedy sensation celebrates 20 years with his first Australian shows in over a decade.
He’s taped his mouth shut, stared down audiences from Las Vegas to Edinburgh, and somehow turned complete silence into one of the loudest comedy shows on the planet. Tape Face is heading to Melbourne for the first time in more than 10 years, and we’re giving away three double passes to catch the show at fortyfivedownstairs.
The creation of New Zealand-born performer Sam Wills, Tape Face has spent the past two decades building a global cult following through a uniquely unhinged blend of physical comedy, prop-driven chaos and audience participation that has to be seen to be believed. Wills originally trained as a clown and busker before developing his silent comic persona, which went stratospheric after a run on America’s Got Talent in 2016.
Since then, he’s held down a decade-long headliner residency on the Las Vegas Strip, sold out theatres across the world and racked up tens of millions of views online. This Australian tour marks the 20th anniversary of the show that kicked the whole thing off — a celebration of two decades’ worth of routines that blend mime with noise, stand-up with no talking and drama with absolutely no acting.
The Melbourne season runs from 26 March to 19 April as part of Melbourne International Comedy Festival. We’ve got three double passes up for grabs to the 7 or 8 April shows. Enter below for your chance to see what happens when one man, a roll of tape and zero words collide in a basement theatre on Flinders Lane.
