Love Police have announced the return of alt-rock icons Wilco to Australian stages after a ten year hiatus.

Chicago rock band Wilco was first formed in 1994 by the remaining members of alternative country rock group Uncle Tupelo, following the departure of lead singer Jay Farrar and they’ve only become bigger and better with age.

Founding member Jeff Tweedy and former Uncle Tupelo bandmate John Stirratt are joined by Nels Cline, Pat Sensone, Glenn Kotche and Mikael Jorgensen. Together as Wilco, they’re set to return to Australia’s concert halls, opera houses, and musical stages for the first time since 2013.

The all-star cast of Wilco has taken inspiration from everything from the greats of music to 20th-century literature. Their fusion of alt-country, folk, rock and eclectic indie sounds has fueled the band’s success and seen them gain fans across the globe.

After winning a Grammy Award in 2005 for Best Alternative Music Album A Ghost is Born and being nominated for seven more across various categories including Folk, Best Rock, and Best Americana, their return down under is welcomed with open arms.

Australian-based folk diviner Leah Senior, known for silencing audiences with vivid lyricism and a voice that carries honest emotions through adoring crowds, will join Wilco on their crusade down under, offering her support at all shows except the Sydney Opera House.

Tickets to see Wilco on their Australian tour are set to go on sale on September 21. Grab yours here.
