The next generation of Australian musicians is gearing up to take over Brisbane’s BIGSOUND showcase this September.
As the southern hemisphere’s premiere music industry gathering, there’s no underestimating Brisbane’s BIGSOUND. Over three days and nights this September 2 to 5, Fortitude Valley will be transformed into a thriving ecosystem of artists, industry players, tastemakers and music lovers with their most exciting lineup of events yet.
Leading Australia’s new wave of music, BIGSOUND invites people from all corners of the industry to mix, mingle, listen and learn – including you. The showcase’s conference stream is brimming with some of the most esteemed names in the industry, while their festival segment is packed with all your favourite – and soon-to-be favourite – artists.

Over 130 artists will be descending on Fortitude Valley for this spectacular first week of spring, taking hold of 18 stages across the region’s live music precinct and beyond with their most dynamic program to date.
For the artists, BIGSOUND is a melting pot of key music industry players to network and connect with. Beloved Aussie musicians like Flume, Rufus, Tash Sultana and Courtney Barnett are just some of the legends who first got their start at the festival showcase.
For punters, this isn’t your typical music festival. The live music segment of BIGSOUND is essentially a one-stop-shop of fresh sounds, new discoveries, established favourites and non-stop music. As the epicentre of Australia’s music machine, it’s no surprise that a slew of Naarm locals will be making the trip to Brisbane for the event. There’ll also be a bucketload of up-and-coming artists from every other corner of the country making noise to sink your teeth into.
From rising rockers like dogworld to emerging rap sensations like Zafty, plus tasteful beat-makers like Yung Maynie and cosmic visionaries like Velvet Bloom, there’s a touch of every genre for all kinds of music lovers.
Punters don’t need to be on the BIGSOUND bill to witness the whirlwind of music sweeping through Fortitude Valley. With both one night and three night festival tickets on offer, attendees can access this melting pot of emerging talent for as little as $25. Better yet – a three-night festival ticket will also grant you access to after hours events and the closing night party if you want to make the most of what’s on offer.

Punters are spoilt for choice when it comes to BIGSOUND’s conference program, too. A whopping 100 industry speakers will be making noise across 70 conference sessions. Whether you’re looking to take a peek behind the curtain of the industry or there’s a specific topic that piques your interest, the dozens of speaking events across the conference will have you sorted.
International industry stalwarts like Blur’s Dave Rowntree and Australia’s very own Briggs and Kobie Dee of Bad Apples are headlining the conference program as keynote speakers. Across the myriad events, beloved artists like Mallrat, Tash Sultana and Uncle Kutcha will also be sharing their wisdom of the industry.
Folded into the mix of artistic talent is a stellar lineup of industry players – both domestic and international – with experiences ranging from record label heads to music festival organisers. This constellation of music experts will be delivering talks and presentations that cover all the big issues of our current industry, as well as how we can shape it going forward.
To assist conference-goers find their way around this labyrinth of knowledge – as well as have an oasis to chill out in – the new BIGSOUND Delegate Hub in Fortitude Music Hall’s foyer will be your go-to spot. The dedicated hub is where you can work, recharge, mingle, and even snag a free morning coffee.

If you’re crafting your list of delegate BIGSOUND events to hit up and you’re stuck on where to start, the special events might just be your guiding light. This massive line up includes Live Nation’s ONES TO WATCH Showcase – where you can discover the new frontier of the music scene – and the BIGSOUND River Cruise – where you’ll be cruising down the Brisbane River, soundtracked by live music – plus heaps more.
If you’re in the mood for mingling with music industry insiders, there’s perhaps no better place to do it. BIGSOUND treats delegates to a massive program of networking events, from Select Music’s 20th birthday party to the beaming lights of the Tivoli at the Closing Night Party.
Excitingly for the first time this year, BIGSOUND is also introducing the BIGSOUND Content House. A place for creators, marketing and media professionals to gather, learn, network and play, you can expect a range of workshops, masterclasses and even a cheeky round of knock off drinks.
Under-agers can get in on the fun, too, with the return of the Brunswick Mall Stage. The free all-ages line up will include a bunch of music showcases and a Writers in the Round event.
