Now.Here.This at The Toff in Town is a Melbourne community fueled by passion and innovation, transforming jam sessions into a global phenomenon.

Each week the underground jazz scene grows, and queues of punters gather down Swanston Street eager to gain entry. The venue peaks at capacity, and music pulsates.

Every Tuesday, The Toff becomes a haven for musicians across Melbourne, ranging from seasoned professionals to fresh faces, gathering to improvise, collaborate, and push the limits of sonic exploration.

More than just a gig; NHT is a vibrant melting pot of musical talent where genres collide, ideas spark, and boundaries blur.

Now.Here.This. is undoubtedly Melbourne’s most recognisable jam-focused event.

From humble beginnings, NHT has grown into a sizable community-driven celebration attracting hundreds of passionate attendees each week, of which a large majority are actively involved in creative or musical pursuits.

NHT has become a staple recommendation for all travelling musicians. The weekly event has attracted an array of unexpected international drop-ins featuring backing bands from Childish Gambino, Ghost-Note and Yusef Islman (FKA Cat Stevens) and cast members of Hamilton and Rent, The Internet, Osunlade, Mono Neon, Mac Miller, Earl Sweatshirt to name a few. Locals such as Thndo, Daniel Merriweather, Yung Shogun, Emma Volard, Cazeaux O.S.L.O and DJ Jnett are often invited to be a part of the event.

The night attracts jazz musicians from VCA, RMIT and Monash improvising with vocalists, rappers, dancers, visual artists and producers from all over metropolitan Melbourne.

Live Dinner Showcase – Various Artists [from 7pm – 2 Sets]

Building the tempo for the evening the music begins from 7PM with a Live Dinner Showcase, curated to enjoy cocktails and the popular Cookie menu in The Toff’s candlelit ballroom. The stage becomes a canvas to present rising and established talent exploring boundless genres from modern jazz, RnB, Soul, Afro, Pop and beyond.

DJ Colette [from 9pm + Between Sets & Closing Set]

Resident DJ, Colette Ruiters aka Ladyc4d drops some serious heat. The dance floor ignites as the dinner tables are swept away. The skills and charisma of this talented selector are an integral element not just to the night, but to the community. Bringing it home between sets and after the live music commences, the dance floor heaves till the early hours.

Now.Here.This. All Star Band [2 Sets From 11.30pm]

It goes late and it gets wild! The first set kicks off before midnight and the energy is electric. The NHT All Star Band, true to its name, is brimming with premium musicians. The band is led by Hdsnjmsjr and hosted by the legendary Bruce Wells III (Billie Holiday’s nephew! Bruce grew up in the 1950s New York music scene, his enthralling stories, insights and experience bleed into the mic, he is a cornerstone to the NHT family.

An eclectic jazz scene is oscillating and thriving in Melbourne right now. The buzz is real, people emerge from the dark streets, and all corners of Melbourne – and at the heart lies Now.Here.This. The Toff surges each Tuesday with faces familiar and new. The underground jazz community unites and ignites as the dancefloor vibrates.
