Pray Away
After making its debut at Tribeca Film Festival in June, Pray Away makes its way to Netflix. The Kristine Stolakis-directed documentary delves into the “pray the gay away” movement, hearing from former leaders, current members and a survivor of the most controversial Christian conversion therapy organisation in the world, Exodus International, about the ongoing trauma the “ex gay” movement has caused.
It hits Netflix on Tuesday August 3.
The Chair
From Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, The Chair follows the new Chair of the English Department at an esteemed university. Played by Sandra Oh, Dr. Ji-Yoon Kim finds herself navigating her new position as not only the first woman to hold the job but one of few people of colour on the university staff.
It hits Netflix on Friday August 20.
Cooking With Paris
Paris Hilton’s iconic YouTube cooking series, Cooking With Paris is headed for Netflix. The series will feature a bunch of celebrity guests who will each introduce Hilton to new ingredients, dishes and cooking methods. A cooking show for amateurs, this six-part series is going to be fun, silly, and hot.
It hits Netflix on Wednesday August 4.

Beckett
Starring John David Washington as the titular Beckett, this Netflix original film follows an American tourist who becomes tangled in a political conspiracy following a devastating car accident. With a target on his back as he makes his way across the country to the American Embassy in a bid to clear his name, Beckett finds himself falling deeper into the web of conspiracy.
It hits Netflix on Friday August 27.
Amazon Prime Video
Modern Love – Season Two
Exploring the complexity of love and relationships, Modern Love is back for another season. The second instalment of the anthology season is inspired by eight true stories and features a slate of familiar faces including Kit Harrington, Minnie Driver, Anna Paquin, Sophie Okonedo, and many more.
It hits Amazon Prime Video on Friday August 13.
Kevin Can F**k Himself
An anti-sitcom, Kevin Can F**k Himself follows Allison McRoberts (Annie Murphy), the perfect housewife who reaches her breaking point and begins to question everything she thought she knew about her marriage and her life. Melding parody and realism, this new series offers a new perspective on the gender roles TV marriages have been selling us for decades.
It hits Amazon Prime Video on Friday August 27.
Cruel Summer
Set in the ’90s, this psychological drama series spans three summers and various viewpoints following the disappearance of a beautiful and popular teen, Kate Wallis (Olivia Holt). From the executive producers behind The Sinner, Jessica Biel and Michelle Purple, this whodunnit is sure to be full of curveballs and suspense.

The L Word: Generation Q – Season Two
The L Word reboot is back for a second season, with new episodes coming each Sunday in August. The series will continue to follow L Word OGs Bette Porter (Jennifer Beals), Shane McCutcheon (Katherine Moennig), Alice Pieszecki (Leisha Hailey), and the new characters we grew to love in season one as they grapple with love, heartbreak, career setbacks and success.
