Viral shoegaze artist Wisp announces debut Australian headline shows for February

Words by staff writer

Wisp brings her immersive shoegaze sound to Sydney and Melbourne in February, following her appearance at Laneway Festival.

The 21-year-old Californian artist broke through with Your Face, which has accumulated over 130 million streams and established her as a prominent voice in contemporary shoegaze. Wisp has since toured with Slowdive and Panchiko, performed at Coachella and Camp Flog Gnaw, and received coverage from the New York Times and NPR. Her debut album If Not Winter arrived recently, showcasing the restless, romantic sound that propelled her rapid rise.

The Australian shows mark Wisp’s first headline performances in the country, presented by Handsome Tours and Laneway Presents. Australian fans will get their first opportunity to experience her live set, which translates the dreamy, layered production of her recordings into an immersive concert environment. The Sydney performance takes place at Liberty Hall, while Melbourne fans can catch her at Croxton Bandroom.

Wisp’s breakthrough single Your Face became a viral moment that introduced her shoegaze approach to a massive online audience. The track’s success led to rapid momentum, with the young artist quickly graduating from bedroom recording to major festival stages and support slots with established shoegaze acts. Her work blends classic shoegaze textures with contemporary production sensibilities, creating atmospheric soundscapes that resonate with both genre purists and newer listeners discovering the style.

The February tour coincides with Wisp’s Laneway Festival debut, expanding her Australian visit beyond the festival circuit into dedicated headline performances. Both Sydney and Melbourne shows provide intimate venue settings compared to festival stages, allowing audiences to experience her music in focused environments designed for her immersive sonic approach.
