Video premiere: Melbourne punks Money Boys make a rollicking debut with their eponymous single

‘Money Boy’ stands as a promising taste of the emerging punk outfit’s potential.

Recorded in 2020 between Melbourne lockdowns, Money Boys’ eponymous debut single captures the pent-up, restless energy of four rowdy punks.

Formed as a means of breaking the boredom of being stuck at home for weeks on end amidst Victoria’s strict lockdowns, the band quickly found themselves rife with material.

Within three short weeks, Money Boys had written a whole EP and, in a single day, recorded it with Press Club’s Greg Rietwyk.

Having made their first-ever on-stage appearances supporting The Smith Street Band earlier this month, Money Boys are now gearing up to perform their debut headline show at the Curtin on Friday April 30 to launch their forthcoming EP, No Wealth but Life.

The first taste of their EP, ‘Money Boy’ is stacked with punchy riffs, frenetic energy and only slightly-ironic bravado, all tied together by an instantly catchy chorus.

Put simply, it’s a bloody tune which stands as a promising taste of the emerging punk outfit’s potential.
