Earlier this week, the Victorian Government announced a new $200 million stimulus package to support struggling businesses across the state, gifting Victorians cashback on dining, travel and entertainment as part of a huge new voucher scheme.

While includes huge dining and entertainment rebates for us all to enjoy, it’s the return of the wildly popular travel voucher scheme that’s got hearts racing with $30 million allocated to inspire Victorians to holiday at home, across both regional and metropolitan Victoria.

“We’re encouraging Victorians to experience the best the state has to offer by going to see a show, having lunch with friends or visiting somewhere new,” said Martin Pakula, minister for industry support and recovery.

“Business and consumer confidence is critical for our continued economic recovery and that’s why we’re investing in these programs to deliver a boost where it is needed most.”

The travel voucher program will open on 23 March 2022 for travel between 8 April and 27 May with 150,000 vouchers available, so pop in that annual leave application.

Much like previous rounds, each voucher is worth $200 and is available to use when you spend $400 on accommodation, experiences or tours undertaken in Victoria.

Vouchers will be limited to one per household and travellers will be required to present receipts to receive the reimbursement.

The program works on a ‘first-come-first-served’ basis and the round will close once all places have been filled for that particular round – and so far, it’s been in about 15 minutes. So you better be quick. Victorians will register through the Business Victoria website and if successful, be provided with a link to redeem the voucher after their travel is completed. Vouchers will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.

Importantly, an extra 10,000 vouchers will be set aside for Victorian seniors, which will be released through a ballot. The ballot for Victorian Seniors travel vouchers will open on 15 March for travel between 8 April and 27 May.

Seriously, set the alarms: March 23 2022.
