As well as making some amazing portraits Ears is also an avid producer of bedroom hip-hop and electronica. He runs a project called freethebeats which is in his own words, “about trying to create a better sense of community for beatmakers and share their amazing music with people that wouldn’t normally get the chance. Free the beats from the lonely captivity of dust covered hard drives in various bedrooms.”
Somehow between putting out some amazing looking releases with freethebeats, seriously have a look at each one, and putting out a fairly substantial body of paintings, Ears manages to find time to operate a gallery back up in Sydney called ohreally. Something of a rennaisance man we have here in Ears.
Mr. Ears O’Toole is showing off a bunch of his paintings at his solo exhibition at Federation Square, in the No Vacancy project space. Called Head Space the exhibition runs from Tuesday May 17 through to Sunday May 29, with an opening night late viewing on Wednesday May 18.
