Write in Your Face is a program funded by the government through the Literature Board of the Australia Council. That sounds a bit complicated but all it means is that for new writers who are trying to do something new, the government wants to help you do that.
Express Media, the group that works with the Australia Council for Write in Your Face, is calling for submissions and applications from everyone aged under 30 or working with writers under 30, with grants of up to $5000 available and applications close on Monday May 30.
These grants are open to anyone writing in anything they feel like. From magazines, e-zines, comics, websites, live performances to multi-artforms and cross-media works. If you can write it, they want to know about it.
Some of last years recipients were Pip Smith from Penguin Plays Rough, who created a multimedia anthology of short stories from new and emerging writers. Clementine Ford put together a website and exhibition of digital stories about Australian women and girls and their own lives.
