UK chart-toppers The Lathums set for first Australian tour

Words by Staff Writer

British indie rock four-piece set to play shows in Fremantle, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne in October 2025.

The Lathums will make their Australian debut this October, bringing their acclaimed indie rock sounds down under for a four-date tour.

The British band from Wigan, Greater Manchester, will perform their first-ever Australian shows as part of their Wigan of Oz Tour, following the success of their third studio album Matter Does Not Define, which debuted at No.3 on The Official UK Albums Chart earlier this year. The band have stated that this debut tour in Australia and Asia should be a special one.

The four-piece, comprised of Alex Moore (vocals/rhythm guitar), Scott Concepcion (guitars, piano and vocals), Ryan ‘Duz’ Durrans (drums) and Matty Murphy (bass and vocals), have already established themselves in the UK with two consecutive No.1 albums.

Their debut album How Beautiful Life Can Be was released in 2021, followed by From Nothing To A Little Bit More in 2023, both reaching the top spot on the UK charts. Their most recent release, Matter Does Not Define, was written in their native Wigan before being recorded at Kempston Street Studios, Liverpool, with both their former college tutor John Kettle and producer Chris Taylor.

The Lathums have built an impressive catalogue of hits including Fight On, The Great Escape, All My Life, Up The Junction, Sad Face Baby, Say My Name and Struggle. Their music has been described as poetry-laced, featuring themes of honesty, hope and heartbreak.

Their rise to prominence has seen comparisons to The Smiths and Arctic Monkeys, with the Daily Mail suggesting they could be “Wigan’s biggest musical export since The Verve.” NME described their latest album as their “most personal and honest record to date,” while Clash praised it for showcasing their maturity.

On the live front, The Lathums have toured with The Killers and Louis Tomlinson, and performed at major festivals including SXSW, Glastonbury, Leeds/Reading, and Neighbourhood Weekender. They’ve received support from notable figures in the industry including Brandon Flowers (The Killers), Matt Helders (Arctic Monkeys), Miles Kane, and Blossoms.

Australian fans will finally have the opportunity to experience their energetic live performances and witness firsthand the sense of community the band has fostered among loyal followers.

Frontier Member presale begins Monday 19 May at 12pm local time, with general tickets on sale from Wednesday 21 May at 12pm local time.
