Melbourne outfit Two People have a lot of exciting news today, revealing the first taste of their forthcoming album First Body with the single ‘In The Garden’, along with word that they’ve signed with Brooklyn-based label, Terrible Records (Solange, Moses Sumney, Blood Orange).

‘In The Garden’ sees Two People melding their minimalist electronic sound with gritty groove and singer Phoebe Lou’s silky vocals. It’s about gaining my power back for the first time and the clumsiness in that,” says Lou of the track, which depicts a suffocating relationship. Weaving hypnotic beats and slick ambience, ‘In The Garden’ is a promising glimpse of First Body.

Two People’s debut album has been a long time coming, self-recorded by the duo over the past two years. Despite having yet to release their first album, the outfit have been gaining traction internationally with their singles ‘Something To Talk About’ and ‘I’m Tied, To You’, though it was their BIGSOUND performance which caught the attention of Terrible Records.

“My love for Two People first manifested in Australia after seeing them at Bigsound,” says Max Wortman of Terrible Records.”It was one of the most tight-knit, intricate, and emotionally involved live performances I’ve seen in years. The dedication Phoebe and Joey have to their craft is unrivalled – beyond anything I’ve interacted with in a long time.”
