Twelve Apostles Visitor Experience Centre has hit a major construction milestone, with its rooftop lookout now complete and ready for views.

The Twelve Apostles Visitor Experience Centre rooftop structure’s completion is a key step in the $126 million project, part of the $676 million Geelong City Deal investment, set to change how people experience one of Victoria’s most photographed spots.

Structural completion represents the building’s ‘topping out’ phase, with the whole thing wrapping up late next year. A Sheoak tree planting ceremony marked this milestone, chosen by Eastern Maar Aboriginal Corporation as the first plant in a revegetation program that will include a rooftop garden.

Eastern Maar community’s cultural and environmental values will be recognised through a Welcome Garden at the precinct. It’s an ongoing collaboration between the project team and Traditional Owners around cultural heritage elements.

Twelve Apostles Visitor Experience Centre sits within the $676 million Geelong City Deal, a joint Australian and Victorian government investment targeting Great Ocean Road’s visitor economy. The new facility aims to get people staying longer and spending more in the region.

Other recent additions at Twelve Apostles Precinct include the Poombeeyt Koontapool viewing area at Loch Ard Gorge Blowhole, plus streetscape upgrades funded by both governments and Corangamite Shire Council.
