Bourke St Mall's historic The Walk Arcade's major redevelopment project is complete, with the Melbourne Walk now open to the public.

Melbourne Walk, a $400 million mixed-use development, is the first new construction within Bourke Street Mall in over half a century.

Backed by Wingate and CapitaLand Investment, Melbourne Walk features three retail levels spanning over 6,000 square metres, topped by dual brand hotels totalling 450 rooms. Hotel Indigo and Holiday Inn, both managed by InterContinental Hotels Group, occupy the upper levels of this landmark development.

Developers demolished the 1980s-built Walk Arcade to make way for the new structure, but preserved the site’s 100-year-old Public Benefit Bootery heritage façade. This restoration is one of Melbourne’s tallest façade retentions, protecting the historic streetscape while enabling modern development behind it.

Melbourne Walk fills a 50-year development gap in Bourke Street Mall, adding fresh retail and hospitality options to the precinct. It’s the first major construction project the mall has seen since the 1970s, bringing new life to one of Melbourne’s most recognised shopping strips.
